REINVENTING THE TEXTILE MOVEMENT

Blerina Hajra
This project is situated in an area of redevelopment in Hackney Wick and is a textile production place for the community. The exterior acts as an envelope; the shell fits the landscaping of the site, but within, the interior is the complete opposite that is composed of different carved out floors. The programming is not constrained. Visitors, workers, customers and fabrics can move around freely. The ramp staircase takes centre stage in this project. It acts as a fashion runway and front of house core. The exterior is made out of translucent panels so during the night you have a light-up box with the movement taking place behind the panels creating a performance in the streetscape.
