This project reflects on the ever-so-increasing lack of space for the local artists of Hackney Wick, in detriment of new development, and looks for opportunities of land to unlock for public use. Analysing the typology of the warehouse and its meaning in a post-industrial neighbourhood, the project focuses on the many unused rooftops of the area as a place to gather the existing community.

Referencing some of the local craft techniques of innovative fabric folding, the proposal takes the form of a light structure which allows for spaces to gather to cook and eat, some workshop areas and exhibition spaces, all weaved within a public platform acting as an extension of the street. The project employs inflatable structures which, when used, activate the rooftops of Hackney Wick celebrating the local culture and its residents.
